In Gambia, the agricultural landscape is heavily influenced by the seasonal rainfall and the fertile soil of the river valley. However, the processing of plant pollen has remained largely artisanal, with significant losses during the humid rainy season due to lack of stabilization technology.
Current local processing of botanical nutrients often struggles with humidity control, leading to the degradation of white pollen. The lack of industrial-grade drying and compression equipment prevents the local market from scaling the production of high-value nutrient blocks.
Despite these challenges, there is a growing demand for standardized pollen products to support the diversification of crops, moving beyond groundnuts toward high-value horticulture and sustainable apiculture.
