PRACTICAL GUIDE

Cherry Pollen Receiving and Maintenance Documentation Checklist for Large-Cherry Pollination

Use this cherry pollen checklist to verify cultivar fit, shipment condition, storage, activation timing, weather conditions, and re-pollination records before applying pollen in a large-cherry orchard.

01

Pollen is active and living biological material. Do not use visibly moist pollen; avoid prolonged room-temperature storage; protect it from moisture; observe the -18°C freezer, 12-hour activation, 15°C–25°C application-temperature, and 5-hour rain-response limits.

01

Scope and applicable varieties

This checklist is for POLLEN FOR POLLINATION OF LARGE CHERRY. It is compatible with American sweet cherry, Bing, Burlat, Van, Lambert, Lapins, Rainier, Kordia, Summit, Skeena, Regina, Sweetheart, Stella, Vista, and Sunburst. Confirm that the orchard cultivar appears on this list before accepting the material for the planned pollination window. For product information, see Premium Cherry Pollen Suppliers in China Professional Pollination Factory.

02

Receiving checklist

  1. Match the delivery to the orchard plan. Record the product name, delivery date, intended orchard block, target cultivar, planned pollination date, and the person responsible for receiving the material. Do not treat the product listing as a substitute for the orchard’s own cultivar and bloom records.
  2. Inspect the package and pollen condition. Pollen uses dry-bag packaging and must remain dry. If the pollen or its packaging is visibly moist, segregate it and do not use it. Record the condition, lot or shipment identifier if available, photographs, and the receiving decision.
  3. Confirm the storage decision immediately. Pollen is active and living and should not remain at room temperature for a long time. If it will be used within three days, place it in cold storage. If use will be delayed for more than a week or flowering is spread over a longer interval, use a freezer at -18°C.
  4. Document the storage handoff. Record the time the pollen entered cold storage or the -18°C freezer, the responsible operator, and the planned removal time. Keep the material protected from moisture during handling.
03

Maintenance and pre-application checklist

  1. Review storage status before pollination. Check the storage record against the planned bloom window. For pollen held in the freezer at -18°C, remove it 12 hours before use and keep it at room temperature for the stated activation period so it can transition from a dormant state to an active state. Record removal time and intended application time.
  2. Check the weather window. Apply only when the temperature is within the approved 15°C–25°C range. The product material states that lower temperatures slow germination and that temperatures above 25°C can damage pollen activity. Record the observed temperature and the observation time before application.
  3. Check for rain after application. Record the forecast and the actual weather for the following five hours. If rain occurs within five hours after pollination, the block needs to be re-pollinated. Record the rain time, affected block, and re-pollination decision.
  4. Complete the application record. Document the orchard block, cultivar, pollen condition, storage route, freezer removal time when applicable, activation completion, temperature, application time, weather observations, operator, and any re-pollination. This record supports traceability without adding an unsupported application rate or equipment setting.
04

Stop conditions

Do not proceed with moist pollen, an unverified cultivar match, storage conditions that do not match the planned use interval, temperatures outside the approved pollination range, or a missing activation record for freezer-stored pollen. Escalate these conditions to the responsible orchard technician for a documented decision.
